Keynote address: Why we need child-centred AI and how we can achieve it

I recently delivered one of the opening keynotes at the Beijing AI Conference in the stream on AI Ethics and Sustainable Development, along with distinguished guests Danit Gal (Cambridge University and previous Technology Advisor to the UN), Wendell Wallach (Yale University) and Arisa Ema (University of Tokyo).

I mostly presented the UNICEF work on policy guidance on AI for children – slides here. I tried to convey three key messages:

We need AI policies and systems to be child-centered
We have ways to do this
We all need to get involved
